"Defend this country and your faith in Christ!"

Being the 4th of July today, we consider the immense privilege it is to live in this country while we celebrate its independence. The freedoms we have are unparalleled around the world. Even those that match our democratic structure do not enjoy the liberties we inherit to the degree that we do as citizens of these great United States.

As Christians, no matter what country you live in, we have dual-citizenship. Because our selection has pre-eminence since before time began (Ephesians 1:3-6; Romans 8:29-30) and are assigned the title of "ambassadors" of the Kingdom of God and His Son Jesus Christ our Lord (2 Corinthians 5:20; Ephesians 6:20), we have an obligation to represent God in all matters as Christians.

“For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5:13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

As we walk free in this country and other countries blessed with freedom, reborn and accepted back into the family of God, remember who you are first -- a preeminent Christian. We are freed from sin, free from the penalty in the end that we were once deserving of. Being a Christian is a 24/7 responsibility, not just on weekends or during your middle-of-the-week church services. Your conduct is always in full view of God and others.

Representing God as Christians while representing this beautiful and free country should come with a sense of honor not just when people are looking. Who are you when no one is looking? The liberty and freedom we have as Christians should not be taken lightly through complacency. (Romans 8:2; John 8:34) We must be careful not to give opportunity to sin, both publicly and privately. We MUST live in the hope that we do not take advantage of the freedoms we have in this country, more so our freedom in Christ.

Let the conduct of your behavior, both public and private, first as a Christian and then as a free American (or any country championing freedom), represent the best your country has to offer. (Romans 13:1-7) Not just as a someone free, but a representative and child of the Living God and a Child of Light. (Ephesians 5:8) Our lives in this world are a means for God to shed His light on those around us.

“But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5:13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

So be steadfast and unwavering in your good conduct. Because you represent the God of heaven and bear the name of Jesus Christ, sealed by the Spirit of Truth. (Ephesians 1:13; Ephesians 4:30; John 16:13). Stand proud not just on this day, the 4th of July, but every day. Not every country gives Christians the freedom to worship. Thank God today for His divine selection and placement of your life in a free country. Pray for those not so fortunate in other countries where they do not have this privilege.

As for our dual-citizenship, we should not stay silent when others try to tear this country down. Stand firm in our love of this country, and of Christ Jesus our Lord. Be ready when challenged for your beliefs. (2 Timothy 4:2) Be ready to defend the love, freedom and hope IN YOU provided by our great Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Do not stay silent! Defend this country and your faith in Christ! "To whom much is given, much is required!" (Luke 12:48)

Happy Fourth of July!

God bless you in Christ Jesus the Lord, always.
