"Throughout His life as a man, He knew that the cross was

a required part of His mission."

The Word of God became a Man (John 1:1-3, John 1:14), came to His own creation (John 1:11), endured the same frailties and conditions we all live and walk in every single day. He was cold in the winter, hot in the summer. If He banged His foot, it hurt just like it does you and me. He suffered in His body the same things you and I do every day.

“And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Our Lord Jesus, the Word of God, came in the days where death sentences were immediate, harsh and extremely horrific. Yet He knew that His entire purpose for coming as a Man to Earth was to die for both you and me. He did so willingly, knowing the brutality that He would face for the time.

The Word of God never stopped being the Word, holding all things together even though He walked as a man within Himself. (Colossians 1:15-17) When it was time to die, the Word of God made His flesh endure fear, endure the pain of betrayal and a broken heart. He endured the pain from the same people He taught and loved, fed, healed, even brought back from the dead. The very same people He came to save were hardened in order to fulfill the prophesies about Him. (Matthew 5:18) He did not prevent His flesh from experiencing the crucifixion, although He could have called legions of angels to come down and destroy everyone. (Matthew 26:53) He knew all things, from the beginning to the end of all creation, including the beginning and ending of His life on this Earth. Throughout His life as a man, He knew that the cross was a required part of His mission.

This Man, who died for us, also rose from the dead...for us, and now stands at the right hand of God. (Acts 7:56) So when we come to God in Jesus’ name in prayer, do not forget that the One who endured the cross knows what it feels like to suffer the trials of life. More than anyone.

“For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4:15-16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Go to God today with all your sufferings, your hurts, your sins and every secret weakness. Don’t be ashamed. Be confident in knowing that at God’s right hand, you have One who knows first-hand how it feels to endure the trials of this life, even the fear of death. He knows how to rely on His God and Father for strength. In exercising faith, our Lord Jesus was our perfect example. (Hebrews 12:2)

God bless you in Christ Jesus the Lord, always.
